DUO WALDNER - Liliana Pesaresi e Luca Trabucchi
Liliana Pesaresi started studying guitar with Michele De Angelis, then she was admitted to the Conservatoire of music “Luisa D’Annunzio” - Pescara - where in 1987 she did her diploma summa cum laude under Prof. Beppe Ficara’s guidance first, and with Prof. Letizia Guerra afterwards. Luca Trabucchi studied at Scuola Civica di Musica - Milan with Prof. Roberto Da Barp and got his diploma summa cum laude. They both took a degree in Economics and Political Science respectively.
During their long soloist carrier they played in different casts (duo with flute and transverse flute, duo with piano and harpsichord, plucked instruments quintet) as well as solo. They followed post-graduate studies at Accademia Chigiana - Siena - with Prof. Oscar Ghiglia, and studied with Prof. Ruggero Chiesa and Stefano Grondona. They won first price in many competitions (among which Salon de Provence -Savona - and TIM - Roma).
The duo chose to name themselves “Waldner” after the name of the lute-maker Luca Waldner, who makes their guitars, to claim only one aesthetic aim and only one musical sensibility.
Since the duo Waldner had got into life, Luca and Liliana have never ceased to support original output for two guitars of great value in terms of composition and instrumental performance, which are largely unknown and rarely performed, especially of the 20th century. The result of such investigation was the monographic CD (MAP, Milan) of John W. Duarte’s works containing two world premiere recordings (Greek Suite op.39 and Suite Française op.61). The release was highly appreciated by the critics.
They gave concerts as soloists and in different chamber music casts both in Italy, for a large number of Italian Musical Institutions and Guitar Festivals, to name but a few Gioventù Musicale Italiana, Agimus, Società “Barattelli”- L’Aquila, Amici della Musica - Sondalo, Festival Internazionale della chitarra - L’Aquila, Festival chitarristico della Valle Ossola, Festival Internazionale - Mottola, Festival “Musica nelle Corti di Capitanata” - Foggia, Festival “Le Altre note” - Bormio, Festival Internazionale - Siracusa, Cid - Sondrio, and abroad ( Croatia, Spain, Hungary, Brasil, Germany and Switzeralnd).
They both won State competition and were awarded chairs of Guitar in the Italian Conservatoires of music - Trapani and Adria.
Luca Trabucchi is director of classical music studies at the Civica Scuola di Musica - Sondrio - and is deeply engaged in bringing out the unpublished chamber music repertoire featuring the guitar (his most recent CD “Hungaroton” contains late 18th century Spanish music for violin, guitar and cello).
Liliana Pesaresi studied Music Learning Theory and Instrument Teaching with Andrea Apostoli, and is now a teacher of AIGAM (Italian Gordon Association for Music Learning). Additionally, she has started studying “Transcription and Execution Praxis of baroque music with Prof. Paolo Cherici and Tiorba and continuous bass with Prof. Francesca Torelli at the Conservatoire of music, Milan.
“...two guitars running after the emotions of mind and soul, able to play in unison, that chase each other, find each other, and recognize each other in the final chord...fine touch, biting and incisive in the audacious, chromatic passages, a perfect understanding...”
“...a very good product, in terms of repertoire and quality of execution. Musical maturity and sensible, self-conscious interpretation.”
IL FRONIMO (guitar magazine – notice on the CD)
“…a great technical skill that only virtuosi can show...”
